Hankins began her legal career as an assistant district attorney in the New York County District Attorney's Office, working in the Trial Division and Special Prosecutions Bureau from 1993-2000.
She then went on to work at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. as the managing director and senior audit manager, then managing director with CitiBank, finishing with Deutsche Bank A.G. as the director, principal audit manager.
Hankins was a member of Riverside Church, in New York City.
She is survived by her husband, William Burke; children Wilson and Jackson; parents Jerry and Nell Hankins; father- and mother-in-law William and Mary Burke of Little Ferry; sister-in-law Maryellen and her husband Barry; and brother-in-law John Burke and his fiancée Andrea Doyle.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, March 6, at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113 South Farview Ave., in Paramus. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Riverside Church, 490 Riverside Dr., in New York. Interment will be in George Washington Memorial Park, in Paramus.
